Aconcagua – Record Mondial – Romania – Dor Geta Popescu

12 Year-Old Romanian Mountaineer Sets New World Record for Mount Aconcagua

PENITENTES, ARGENTINA, FEBRUARY 8, 2016 - 12 years-old Dor Geta Popescu reached the top of Mount Aconcagua on Saturday February 6. She becomes the world's youngest female mountaineer to reach this top, setting a new World Record for Aconcagua for her age group.
At 6,960 meters (22,838 ft), Aconcagua is the highest mountain outside of Asia, and by extension, the highest point in both the Western Hemisphere and the Southern Hemisphere.
A member of Altitude Expeditions Team and a sportswoman of the Romanian Federation of Mountaineering and Climbing, Dor Geta Popescu said: "An excellent mountain, a perfect ascent: rhythm, effort, success! In the day we reached the top, as I was expecting, it was windy, the temperature dropped and the last part was strenuous; although I was, obviously, the youngest in the group, the rhythm I set to myself was better than that of some of my ascent partners. I reached the top and realized I set a new world record for my age group! Beneath me, a sea of mountain tops and mountains until the horizon line! I remembered that the record on the route of the Polish Glacier was set, in 2009, by my sister, Coco! The only thing I can think is that life is, indeed, beautiful!"
Dor Geta Popescu has obtained the first exceptional result for 2016. Her sports objectives, as a member of the performance group of the Altitude Mountaineering Sports Club, include climbing the highest tops and the highest mountains in North America, Australia and Oceania, expeditions in which she wants to set three new World Records for her age group in altitude mountain climbing.
She prepares in climbing rooms and during the summer and winter expeditions on the 7 Mountains in the Carpathian Garden Circuit, trainings coordinated by the Romanian Federation of Mountaineering and Climbing.
Geta's world breaking expeditions are, no doubt, "Made in Romania"- organized by the Altitude Expeditions Team, sponsored by the Romanian Brand Strindberg.ro - professional sportswear, S-KARP Romania - all-terrain footwear, Redis Nutritie, Celadrin, F64, Euro Educational - EDU  - your event – our multimedia solutions and the 7 Mountains in the Carpathian Garden circuit.
